A village that gave its name to a hunt
When Hugo Meynell moved to Quorn Hall in 1753, he brought his pack of hounds, and the pack kept its base there under later masters until 1905. That is how the Quorn Hunt got its name. The hall itself dates from around 1680. On the other side of the village, Quorn and Woodhouse station is a stop on the preserved Great Central Railway.
Stone country
Granite has been quarried around Quorn since the Iron Age, first for millstones and later for building, and the huge Mountsorrel quarry sits just to the south.
